“Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.”Jeremiah 18:2
Oh how easy it is to get lost! With our cell phones and iPads, our 24-hour news cycles, there’s virtually nowhere to go for a moment of peace and quiet.
That’s where Potters House Church comes in. We provide a holy place of respite in the tumult of life. So come, put aside the cares of the week and find yourself in the presence of God.
The Potter's House Christian Centre was started up under the name of Christian Fellowship Ministries (CFM) in 1970 by Pastor Wayman Mitchell. The Potter's House experienced good growth during a revival that touched the little church in Prescott, Arizona. The 'Jesus Movements' was sweeping America and multitudes of young people were being profoundly saved and converted to Christ. While many of the traditional churches closed there doors to the long haired, denim clad 'hippies', Pastor Wayman Mitchell received the with open arms. Pastor Mitchell's solid grounding in the Word of God and his passion to take the Gospel into all the world was soon imparted into the hearts of many zealous new converts, in a short few years, several young couples were launched into the surrounding cities to pioneer new churches.
In 1978, one of these couples was sent to Perth Australia, to begin a new church, following the pattern that had been set in Prescott. Many years later that church planted into Perth has in turn planted dozens of couples that have planted churches into many countries of the world including Norwich, England. In September 2002 the Norwich church then planted Pastor Peter and Linda Temple to go pioneer a church here in Leicester. From the beginning, in Leicester the emphasis was Evangelism, Discipleship, Church planting and World Evangelism. 10 years later the Leicester church then launched it's first church, sending Pastor Brian and Bekki Remigio into Loughborough.
In November 2013, the Leicester church again launched their second baby church into the city of Peterborough. The Peterborough church is a direct result of the Leicester church`s commitment in church planting.
Our desire and aim is to see men and women fulfil God’s calling for their lives in the various ministries that are available for Christian believers according to God’s word and personal calling [Romans 12:5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another]. This includes taking the Gospel outside the four walls of our church, touching neighbouring cities, and nations beyond. We strongly believe in the pattern that was laid out to the early believers, by Christ and through the fathers of the church in the book of Acts. Our aim is to create an environment for personal spiritual growth in the church. So If you are ever in the Peterborough area, we invite you to stop by and visit us here at the Potters House. You are always welcome
